Leather is good quality however the paper is very thin and will not suit fountain pens and dip pens as the ink will soak through to the page underneath. Same apply to markers. Standard biro or pencil is about all you can use on it so a bit disappointed in that regard. Still happy with my purchase thoughI wanted this gorgeous book of shadows for some special project which required me writing in fountain pen, or, better still, bird feather with inkwell, but the paper is recycled craft-made (the type one would make on one's bathtub), extremely thin (which makes the journal puzzingly light) and very uneven: all writing with something of this sort comes out the other side, besides, the paper absorbs these kinds of inks so readily, that it "bleeds over" around the letters, making them unreadable.I don't think this is bad per-se, but what I really don't like is that the product information does not specify what kind of paper it is, so one can not know this until one takes the book, and sees how light it is, or tries to write in it with ink. This should really be specified in the product information!
