This mount made that dead simple.I was installing a security camera over the garage door, and was not looking forward to cutting a hole in the wall and siding to install a standard wiring box to power the device with a 120v line drop, so I went looking for alternatives. I shouldn't have been surprised to find there was an alternative, but there it was. This box fit my siding perfectly (I used the 5/8" version to match the existing siding) and there was no blind cutting or guesswork involved. A single 1/2" hole for the wire, a couple of screws to attach it to the wall (supplied with the box), and the camera was ready to mount. Sure, they sell vinyl mounting blocks, but every mounting block I've seen in the big stores (Lowe's, Home Depot) is absolutely terrible. My house has vinyl siding over wooden shingles, and I was absolutely dreading cutting into the siding to mount a recessed electrical box. But with this product, I literally only had to find a stud, drill a hole through the siding, snake the wire to the hole, caulk around the hole, and screw this mounting block into the stud. The hardest part was snaking the wire through the hole, but installing the actual mounting block only took a couple minutes. Skip the crappy blocks sold by the home centers and just buy this one.
